    Heartbreak is…

As though you are walking down the same stairs in your home, those that you have walked for years and years, only to find the last six are missing.

It is only as you are falling that you realise you hold the hammer that smashed them away.

It’s evolution’s survival of the fittest. Imagine hanging in suspense from a bridge above water, your clearest & dearest realities crumble but you can’t fall, you have to rebuild so you don’t drown.

Your thoughts are all consuming, your insides hollow; time keeps moving on. How does it keep moving on?

  1. In your absence,

the thorny limitations of day crept in.

I was punctured by the realization that

you will never again look for me

and I will never stop seeing you.

  2. these rivers and lakes of tears on my skin, these tributaries
and bodies of sadness, are changing my physical landscape.
i am softer, i am more desolate, i am eroding.

  3. Heartbreak is the emptiest pit in your stomach, but you don’t want to eat. It’s wanting to wake up from your worst dream only to realize it wasn’t a dream at all.

Realizing that the love is gone, that your lover is now a stranger, that even if you wish to stop breathing and avoid the pain, you will not be able to make it – these things will break your heart. But they will also give you the chance, at some point in the future, to put yourself back together, more powerful than ever.

Heartbreak is an aching feeling of hollowness in the body that makes you second guess who you have been. It’s a journey filled with many emotions that lead to small pockets of beautiful moments in which you’re forced to slow down and discover what really matters, and makes you feel whole on your own.

    Heartbreak:

I can’t describe heartbreak. But, I hope that at some point, your heart shatters into unrecognisable pieces because as painful as it may be, it will be the best thing that happens to you!

  4. Heartbreak feels like falling in love – but in the opposite direction.

Heartbreak is waking up in the middle of the night, forgetting that they’re gone, reaching for them, and remembering that they will never be there again. It’s the tension of a fight you know you will never win, but one in which you cannot accept defeat.

Heartbreak my dear is like waking up in the morning being all neutral or even happy for a moment and then when you remember he left you feel a heaviness on your chest. It is hard to breath and you dont think your heart will ever heal, and to love someone again is not even thinkable.

Heartbreak is diving into an icy river in winter. You want to gasp and cry out from the shock and cold, but your lungs don’t work properly and if you open your mouth you’ll drown in your sorrow, so you keep moving forward until you either you get used to the water or a hand pulls you on to dry land.

    Heartbreak is…
Watching the source of light of your life, all its vibrancy leave behind shadows, fading over the horizon as your eyes scan desperately in search of some small glimmer. It is, in fact, going blind, over and over and over…with each glance.

Heartbreak is where your mind processes and after, every entity in your body follows suit; your lungs shrink leaving you gasping for air, your eyes well up leaving you sticky and wet, your heart pumps leaving you wishing it didn’t. Unlike anything else in the world, heartbreak is where your entire body is entrapped in pain, not just your mind.

Heartbreak is the disconnection between the reality your brain perceives and the reality your body feels. It is change that must be processed before it can be felt, and our bodies are creatures of habit.

  7. It takes hold.
    White knuckle gripping,
    the tears cementing
    your body to the bed
trying to sum the whole up
trying to wrap it, tie it, define it
    because when we give it
    a name, a frame, a plane
    big becomes small
    searing becomes dull
and we can move, keep our commitments
    if only just
enough to draw in another breath
    and another and another.

    Heartbreak
It is a frozen state, an overwhelming rawness at your throat, eyes too easy to cry, and a nagging starvation that wants something you cannot give it.
They say time heals all wounds but that is a fallacy; it is the time away from them that feeds the wound, making it grow wider and deeper, because every passing minute does not heal you, it reminds you that you have to live the rest of your life without them by your side.

There’s nothing manufactured about heartbreak as the open wounds are real, they throb and tighten your chest, knot up your throat and make you sick to your stomach. A wealth of overwhelming, can’t-catch-your-breath emotions with an inconceivable end.

  18. Heartbreak is the shattering of a part of you that you never quite understood had so much depth to it, and only through the shattering, can you finally understand how alive you actually are. Then, the only way to heal your wounds is to pour love and light into them, to let it flow into the fissures and cracks until you own them as love’s beautiful imperfections.

The proper name of heartbreak is grief. There is no body, no ceremony, but there is surely death—of the shared, luminous life you had once imagined; of the illusion, now empty, that your happiness rests in your own hands; and, worst of all, of the fragile, budding belief that, despite everything, and against all odds, you are worthy of love.

    Time stops,
    second is a lifetime.
    Take a new breath,
    you are alive.

    Like a tree hollow.
A piece of you is missing and it never truly heals, but my darling you keep standing tall showing the world how beautiful you are, even when you’re not whole.

    Heartbreak.

“I can’t explain what heartbreak is” she said, as she sat with unsteady hands slowly restitching the cracks of her heart that opened the day he walked away.

Holding a hand of a life you know is quietly slipping through your fingers like sand,
But her grip was tight even if she could not speak.

The throbbing ache of heartbreak radiating through mind and body is the souls demonstration of our capacity for love. If weathered attentively and tended to with care it will bring strength, resilience and a deeper understanding of self.

Heart break is a dream where your house is crumbling down on you and as each brick falls it knocks the air out of you again and again. But then you wake up to realize it wasn’t a dream and the last wall of bricks comes crushing down on you.

Have you ever asked yourself how it would be to loose your arm – You know it’s not yet there anymore, but your whole being has not adapted to it you can still feel it.

You know you you can probably live on without it but you don’t know if you will ever get over it not being there anymore .

    We kissed once,
and I realize now it might be a minute before I find someone else
    who touches my hair
    like it holds holy secrets.

I mean that and my speed dial line up is shot to hell.

A detachment from the paradise you create in a hellish world . Heartbreak is a harsh reality.

    Heartbreak.

I don’t know why we call it heartbreak? When lost love shatters every part of your body.
Leaving your soul, like broken bits of charcoal, sprawled on the bathroom floor- a cold dismembered jigsaw.

Heartbreak means being left with just your thoughts, your mind and nowhere to run from it. That’s the breaking part.

Heartbreak is the doctor telling you your newborn twins will not survive, as your heart and arms begin to ache with emptiness.

Heartbreak is continuing through life not knowing what could have been and should have been reality.

Heartbreak is paradoxically the most detrimental and beautiful thing you will ever go through. It’s crashing out of a version of yourself, and desperately grasping for another.

Indescribable agony. Every emotion you have ever felt and nowhere to hide.

The weight of an ocean lies on your chest, with your lungs aching it pushes you further down the abyss.
You see the light you was leaning towards fading away, knowing the darkness won’t let you go home.

Realizing there really is no hope left, no “it’s going to get better” anymore and you really can’t do anything about it. You sit there and hope for the day that your heart doesn’t sink when that realization randomly pops into your head.

Heartbreak is realising that you didn’t loan your heart out, you gave it.
It is realising that you will only recover when you build yourself another.

Heartbreak is a constant contradiction; it is the definition of holding on, and finally, it is letting go

Heartbreak… pain and longing that rips through you relentlessly… is the ultimate test of resiliency, power and grace. Because when you feel this pain, when that love is gone, you wonder how you will make it to the next day… and yet you do.

Heartbreak is like you drank too much and you’re already sick. And there’s nothing you can do but ride it out until it’s over.
