Thursday, December 29th is the final New Moon of 2016. New Moon in Capricorn.
This New Moon is chalked full of inspiration and gives us the opportunity to harvest the seeds we wish to cultivate in the New Year. How can you improve your life? Use these final days of 2016 to decide what you can do to be the best version of yourself, and make a plan that you can implement.
Capricorn themes: Creative power, personal responsibility, making plans, honoring what you value – align longing and purpose with action. This New Moon is a time to pause and intentionally prepare for the actions we want to set into motion in 2017.
It is all about healing, so dig deep and envision the inner warrior that will come out on the other side. It’s not always pretty, but it’s necessary.
“Like the lotus flower that is born out of mud, we must honor the darkest parts of ourselves and the most painful of our life’s experiences, because they are what allow us to birth our most beautiful self.” – Debbie Ford
Use these final days as a reset, and get ready to begin again. Get organized and make a plan. You can view this on two platforms as we enter these final days of 2016: the things we wish to get rid of, and what we want to manifest and attract in the New Year.
What is important always, but especially now, is compassion and kindness in everything we do – with ourselves and with others. If there is one thing we should take with us from this year is that we are all fighting in our individual struggles (sometimes it feels like we are fighting for our lives). We never know what our neighbor is experiencing, and what we must know about Karma is that we get back whatever we serve and then some. Smile and be the mirror for the world you wish to live in. When smiling feels like climbing a mountain, backwards with you eyes closed (you get the picture) ask for some support. Being strong is important, but there is no nobility in suffering. Don’t forget to take care of yourself, and be as kind to yourself as you are to the ones you love.
Each year has a theme, and 2016 was the year of Karma. This could come as no surprise, as many of us felt the intensity in both our personal lives and the world around us. Karma can be hard, and it can hurt. But above all Karma is IMPORTANT. It forces us to go through the lessons we need to learn, no matter how much we don’t want to deal with the mess and the pain. Like a phoenix, we emerge from the dark depths – the mud, the soot, the tears, the heartache – stronger and ready to move forward. Until we accept what we cannot change, and learn the lessons being presented to us, we cannot move forward into brighter days with thicker skin in the way that is most supportive to our highest being.
I’m not saying this is easy (I am teary-eyed simply writing this as I reflect on the tough lessons, along with the beauty, this year brought to me and the rest of us) but it is worth it. Embrace it all – the heartbreak, the beauty, the victories and the losses. You are stronger, and softer, because of it all.
As Devany Litha Wolfe so beautifully reflects, “I’ve had to surrender to almost everything to the feet of the universe whilst building an internal core of inextinguishable light. Through trauma, heartbreak and hundreds of art pieces, through form and formlessness, through the highest points of anxiety and suffering, through the most profound moments of joy and gratitude.”
2016 is not over yet, and many of us are anxiously counting down the days for it to be gone, but we must make the most of these final days by tying up loose ends and making peace with the things we plan to leave behind us.
Of course it makes sense that 2016 is the year of Karma, as it is also the year of 9 in numerology – symbolizing endings and completions. This is then the end of a 9-year cycle, and on the cusp of the beginning of a new 9 years. Reflecting on the lessons and wisdom you have experienced over the past 9 years is the best way to prepare for a new cycle. If you notice re-occurring patterns, particular hardships or successes, make notes of these things and what they mean in the grander scheme of your life and your journey. Share these gifts of knowledge with others, whether it be through advice, support, or actual service.
With 2016 being a 9 year, then leading us into 2017 as a 1 year. A year of beginnings and creations. The universe is calling us to make a new life for ourselves, and the tension we feel is the resistance to that change. We are being told to shed our skin, our bad habits, people and things that no longer serve us, in order to move forward. We must surrender to this and willingly accept the flux, or it can manifest into a very uncomfortable time of holding on to thing that are no longer real. Everything changes, including us. Let the power to change your life empower you, not scare you. When we surrender we are finally free to live our truth. It can be a beautiful and inspiring time if we allow it to be. Love yourself and forgive yourself – All is possible.
“She fell, she crashed, she broke, she cried, she crawled, she hurt, she surrendered and then… she rose again.” – Nausicaa Twila
As we move out of 2016, the year of Karma, the year of 9, tie up the loose ends, bid the old farewell and make space for the beauty and opportunity that is waiting for us on the other side.
What to expect in 2017, the year of 1, the year of Love!
Its time to show up! For yourself, your life and your dreams. It is time to plant the seeds of what we want to grow over the next cycle. Whether your dreams lie in love, career, family, self-care, whatever we put our energy to is what we will grow, so make sure you are following your heart – and that means different things for all of us. This is a fun and rewarding time, but it also requires focus and vigilance, which is why is it so important we clear our minds and get ourselves in a good physical space both within our bodies and our outer environments so we can properly harness all that we have within us to create the life we want. The most important aspect in all of our dreaming is to BELIEVE that everything we want is possible. Look at the greater picture and the goal of what you are working towards to keep yourself on track and feel a rewarding sense of fulfillment within all of the small steps you take to get there. Every drop of what we do is adding to the bucket, so find victories in the small stuff, because nothing is ever ‘small’ after all.
Don’t forget, Mercury will remain in retrograde until January 8th, so be easy on yourself and live within the limits of energy being offered to us.
It’s been tough, and its all been worth it, so turn you face towards the sun and continue on to the beat of your heart.
