“Women are emotional in order to feel the divine energy at the highest levels and be supreme healers and lovers and mothers. Not to drive men insane. Her deep spiritual connection to feelings is to inspire a man to his spiritual heights as well. She is not a nag, she is an oracle.” — Raja Khan

Today is a Last Quarter Moon. It’s a time of release and forgiveness. Think of it as a cleansing period, where you wash away the pain and clutter of the previous weeks.

You must clean out your closet before you can buy anything new and you must clean out your emotional load before you can receive or give anything worthwhile.

Last Quarter Moon comes about three weeks after the previous new moon and about a week before the next new moon.

Following the lunar phases has special meaning to women as we are physically and, perhaps, emotionally following the same phases in our lives. Let’s not forget, the Moon represents women in Astrology.

When we have emotions we can’t explain or “gut feelings” that don’t make sense, we very well may be experiencing the force of the lunar energy.Understanding her phases will help you understand your own.

The New Moon – Beginnings

The New Moon represents the menses (menstrual cycle) and in ancient days women retired from others during this time.
It’s time to begin projects, new regimes, fresh starts. Some gardeners maintain that this is the best time to plant seeds – you can easily imagine that this is a symbol for many things.

The First Quarter – Action

After a week (the first quarter) she returns to the action in her life and takes the steps towards fulfilling her plans. The Moon reaches her first quarter seven days after the New Moon. At the First Quarter Moon, we might meet challenges we had not prepared for.  We may need to make on-the-spot decisions about how to proceed and then do what needs to be done in order for our intentions to manifest.  It is a time for action.

Take your projects out there and do something practical about those decisions or wishes you made when the Moon was new.

Gibbous Moon – Movement

Any changes comes at the gibbous phase. The next seven days have a forward momentum. If you began something new, like a diet, at the New Moon, you should be seeing some results by now. Not the final results you imagined, but moving towards them.

Maybe something has happened that we cannot fulfill our intentions; maybe we changed our mind. Whatever has occurred, this is the time to
rephrase or adjust/edit our written note.  There is nothing to fret about; it is a good thing to realize limitations or change of mind.  This is the time that it is easy to accommodate and adjust.

Full Moon – Harvest

The flowering occurs during the Full Moon which occurs two weeks after the New Moon. The lunar energies peak now, fourteen days into the cycle. It is harvest time, possibly for projects begun at a New Moon months beforehand. Results in just two weeks are hard to find in most endeavors……although we can always dream. Emotions may peak one way or another too.

Disseminating Moon – Thinking

The disseminating Moon is the time a woman reaps the rewards for a job well done with celebrations and accolades. This is the time to be grateful, talk about your intention to those who wish you well, share your hopes and wishes, and ask those who love you to keep good thoughts for you. Tell yourself enthusiastically that your intentions are “already done.”

Last Quarter – Shuffling the deck

The last quarter is clean-up time, putting everything back in place and letting go of the emotional intensity of the last weeks. Now is the time to let go, release, and forgive anything and everyone that you may feel has hurt you in any way.  It is a time of emptying self and allowing the universe to take over or whomever you trust in your faith.
It is out of your hands and no more action is needed from you.

Anything you don’t need, or which isn’t working can be recycled or thrown out now. Needless to say, this is a good time to clear out cupboards, weed your garden, or get a sassy new haircut.

Balsamic Moon – Release

The balsamic phase is the recuperation and surrender phase;
preparing for another time of retiring from her world at the New Moon coming.

It is a time of release. If you want to let go of a relationship, job, or anxiety this is the perfect time to focus on this desire. You may feel peaceful, or empty. The final days just before the New Moon are also called the dark of the Moon, because it sheds so little light. Symbolically, this suggests the inner world is more important than the outer world at this point in the cycle.
